As the new preschool year begins, your child will quickly adjust to new habits, new relationships with teachers and friends, and new learning challenges. Adapting to change can take time. Talking about it helps but can be a bit overwhelming for children trying to remember the events of their day during the transition. So we have some tips for you to try to ease the tension.
Try these simple suggestions to spark conversation and encourage positive communication:
Tell them about yourself. Children love to hear what you were like when you were their age. Share briefly a story about something you enjoyed at preschool or your favorite meal. Your child will connect and share something in return. For example, you might say, "I used to play with my friends at preschool. What do you and your friends like to do?'
