Great welcome, fantastic local food and delicious local wine.
Staying with friends near to Paphos we thought we would go 'off the beaten track' and look for a quality taverna.... what a diamond mine we found in Kouklia!!! We opted for the Diarozos Taverna from the half a dozen or so on offer and what a great choice. We were welcomed from the minute we arrived and were offered meze which didn't stop coming for the next two hours!! It was quite superb with excellent quality and service which was second to none. Our dining neighbours were primarily locals and we were delighted to see that they dined as we did - very well. The local red wine was delicious and the white (Makkas) very much appreciated. Dessert was fresh fruit which was magnificent. We felt that we had found this diamond mine before it became a tourist hotspot and it has been by far and away the highlight of our two weeks to date on the island.
